Encouraging Lifelong Empathetic Learning for the 22nd century… where books are records of learning done in the field, used as tools to aid the learning experience and not the actual source of learning, Nature is the source of learning and teachers are experts facilitating the process of learning by inspiring and directing the learners when required.

Outdoor play based learning fosters children’s intellectual, emotional, social and physical development. By being surrounded by nature, children and adults experience an ever-changing and free-flowing environment that stimulates all the senses.

Interacting with natural environments allows children to learn by doing and experiment with ideas. In nature, children think, question, and make hypotheses — thereby developing inquisitive minds. Whether they’re judging the distance between two rocks before jumping or considering where insects go in the winter, children are constantly thinking when they’re in nature. These experiences offer real, authentic learning like nothing else can. As children take risks, try and fail, and try again, they gain resilience and confidence.

Young Adults and Adults also have plenty to receive from nature’s playground. Lifelong learning is the best trait individuals can develop in themselves. Realizing that learning is not limited to classroom or to a particular age opens the doors for infinite knowledge and application of knowledge one already has.

Adults learn more effectively when they are actively involved and allowed ample opportunity to learn by doing. Participation creates an opportunity for adults to take part in their own learning experience. Adults learn what they practice.
